FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
Below are some common questions patients have asked us over the years. If you have a question that is not covered below, please don’t hesitate to call or email us. We’d be happy to answer any questions you may have.
How does Massage Therapy help with?
Massage Therapy is a regulated health profession in Ontario that focuses on your soft tissues to provide pain relief, and improve the connections and integrity of your soft tissues. You can expect to find relief from dysfunction related to your muscles, fascia, tendons and soft tissues. Correcting these imbalances can provide dramatic relief from pain as well as contribute to joint alignment, coordination and functional movement.
Is this a relaxation massage or soft tissue treatment?
You will likely experience relaxation, once our Registered Massage Therapist releases tension build-up in your muscles and soft tissues. However, this is NOT a spa massage, we offer targeted treatments to muscle, fascial and soft tissue dysfunction. You can expect to experience significant, long-lasting improvement from your condition.
How do I choose the best Massage Therapist for my condition?
Every Massage Therapist will offer a slightly different approach, so it’s important to match with the right person. We recommend reaching out to us via phone or email and give us some details on your reason for seeking Massage Therapy. We’ll then give you our practitioner recommendation that would best suit you.
What can I expect during my first visit?
During your first massage, you will fill out a quick health history form and discuss the pertinent issues you’re experiencing with your Registered Massage Therapist. The RMT will then leave the room after giving you instruction on how to make yourself comfortable on the table. They will then knock on the door to make sure you’re comfortable and ready for them. They will then enter the room and begin your treatment. Our clinic does not cut time off your massage appointment for undressing, dressing or turning over the table between appointments, as most clinics do. If you book a 60min massage, that’s exactly what you’ll receive; a full 60min on the table.
How often should I receive massage appointments?
This entirely depends on your condition, preventative and maintenance needs. Our massage therapist will make the appropriate recommendation for you following your first visit. We highly recommend scheduling 60min at least for the first session.
Do you offer direct billing to my insurance?
Yes. Most insurance plans now allow direct billing. We will ask for your insurance company name and your policy number at your first visit and set up direct billing for you right from day one.
